Juan Fernando Herrán's artistic career has been characterized by his in-depth research and identification of particularities that propose a reinterpretation of the Colombian context. Mild and emerging part of various trips that the artist made over several years throughout the national territory. Initially, his interest was to visit and document different indigenous communities that have been decisive in the construction of the Colombian social fabric, alluding to a reflection present in his work; the relevance of the object and architectural production in a space, and the way in which this conditions the relationships between the inhabitants and their environment. This with the aim of revealing a link with the natural environment, from a study on the material culture, through four specific regions of Colombia: La Guajira, Putumayo, the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta and Rio Verde de los Montes.
