Jaime Tarazona (Bucaramanga, 1973) has developed his work around the paradoxes that contemporary society has inherited from modernism. The notions of utopia, order and rationality are explored through
sculpture, collage, and painting to uncover the power dynamics that underpin them. In particular, Colombian reality is read from a perspective of the periphery—that rural periphery that is constructed as an opposition to the center of large cities. His work is part of the collections of the Banco de la República de Colombia, the Jorge M. Pérez Collection and Adriana Cisneros, both located in Miami. He lives and works in Bucaramanga.
