It seems distant is a reflection on the landscape from the experience within the journey.
Tours made around a specific territory: Nevado del Ruiz Volcano, but also through the exercise of representation where time can open the narrative of the pictorial task and the video montage. I am interested in paying special attention to how the image emerges through layers of sedimentation, which, like the landscape, accumulate gesture after gesture, step after step, image after sequence.
The first time I climbed the Nevado Volcán del Ruiz I was about 17 years old, and since then I have been climbing periodically, which has become a tacit motive for my painting, an excuse to always return to the mountain. I suppose that over time, adding routes, I am more aware of the inaccessible corners and views that are impossible to reach. The mountain is a territory in transformation, its temporality escapes me. The greens and blues are calmed by the intense splendor of the light of the high mountain. And in that blindness it seems that the gray covers everything. The environment is arid and humid at the same time, the reds are hidden under the lunar silver of the rocks and the sulfur yellows border the mist.
