The images reproduced for this exhibition were found in a book about the history of machines. Published in the 1960s, the copy in question used to be part of a public library, and some of its pages, particularly the illustrated ones, were scratched by what were probably its most distracted readers—certainly those least intrigued by humanity's technical feats.
It's a series of thoughtless, seemingly insignificant scribbles, but whose lines reveal a certain vitality; perhaps because, despite their destructive, or merely disinterested, intention, their pulse and compositional intuition also reveal the elemental traces of language, and with it, all the creative potential contained within every human being.
