EXHIBITION INFORMATION:

Next Please is a project that emerged from a specific situation, similar to the “exquisite corpse” construction exercises that took place within the framework of surrealist gatherings at the beginning of the 20th century.

For the development of this exhibition, 26 young artists with a notable presence in the development of national contemporary art were invited, and they were asked to participate in the construction of a joint piece which was developed in the following way:

1. The list of participating artists was randomly ordered on the computer to establish the order of the interventions.

2. In turn, each artist received two 30 x 50 cm MDF boards (they are not square to break the modularity). On one, they had a gesture generated by the artist before them, which they had to finish without any restrictions, and on a second board where they had to make a gesture that the next artist would use to continue the composition.

3. Each artist had a day and a half to work and none of them knew who the other participating artists were or their order of participation.

All the invited artists enthusiastically embraced the idea and became involved in the project, and so on May 21, 2008, the first intervention took place: Natalia Castañeda in Paris. The joint work was completed with the last intervention on August 14 (Máximo Flores).
