Contemporary Landscapes is an exhibition by artist Jose Olano that unfolds a constellation of pictorial problems in an expanded key: the chromatic power of consumer objects and architectural compositions, the physical presence of the support, the use of unconventional materials. In the fragility of his pieces, in their unstable balance, in their overflow beyond the canvas, Olano links pictorial material with the temporality of urban architecture, and in doing so poses a fundamental question: how much of what seems stable and definitive to us today will, in retrospect, be merely a provisional form?
