1,000 drawings is a project by the artist Esteban Peña, which was developed over a period of four years. In it, Peña takes a critical look at the way in which the teaching programs of Art History are structured in the West, highlighting how subjective they can be, since each author makes a capricious selection of what, according to his criteria, is most significant. Likewise, and given the impossibility of having direct access to the works selected for study, poor reproductions taken from books must often be used. Once photocopied numerous times, the image is altered, resulting in the image being affected by toner, reducing it to barely recognizable stains and shapes.
