Studies on the square presents a series of gouaches on paper from the 1990s, which at the time broke the mold regarding what it meant to paint. As mentioned above, the origin of each of the pieces lies in the square and how, when fragmented, generally into three parts, it constructs rectangles and lines. These geometric compositions have defined Gil's work as Concrete Art, since, in addition to his studies on forms, the artist uses monochromatic tones.
