On the occasion of the celebration of the centenary of the birth of the Colombian artist Eduardo Ramirez Villamizar (1922-2004)This exhibition reconstructs the artistic career of one of the most renowned artists in the history of modern art in Colombia.
The Eduardo Ramírez Villamizar archive: life among boxes and papers offers a unique opportunity to get to know the artist through his judicious collection and preservation of documents. Here, a selection of previously unpublished material from the artist's personal archive is on display for the first time, consisting of: 2.098 documents, which include photographs of his work and exhibitions, cuts of press, critical reviews, exhibition catalogues, personal letters, Recognitions and Awards, contracts and commissions, among others. Also, will be exhibited 85 works of art in different formats, as drawings, sculptures and paintings, from private collections and the Eduardo Ramírez Villamizar Corporation.
This exhibition is an effort of the Department of Art History and the Bank of Digital Archives of Art in Colombia (BADAC) of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities of the University of the Andes, next to the Eduardo Ramirez Villamizar Corporation and with the support of the Uniandes Cultural Center. It will be open to the general public. August 8th to September 29th, in the exhibition hall of the University Civic Center of the University of the Andes, with a diverse range of activities for the entire community.
