Aldo Chaparro (Lima, 1965)
Lives and works between Lima, Cozumel, New York and Madrid.

Aldo Chaparro works primarily in the field of sculpture. Known especially for his pieces made of stainless steel, his work develops from an interest in the physical properties inherent to materials, and the economy of means he uses to express the purity and simplicity of the material. In his most recent works, Aldo returns to his origins and creates a series of sculptures in wood, as a simple gesture to define the form and geometry of volumes. Aldo approaches decomposition as a process and as a metaphor for destruction and rebirth, and he removes the industrial qualities of materials, returning them to their original state.

Natalia Castaneda (Manizales, 1982)
Lives and works in Bogotá

Since its inception, Natalia Castañeda's work has been developed from the idea of contemplation, as a slow action to understand and recognize the landscape, and as a method of understanding the environment and the forms that make up nature. In this series of recent works, Castañeda presents a series of paintings that are articulated not only as an image/reflection in the presence of objects but also as a series of anecdotes that find correspondence through their narrative potential. This staging of the process, that is, the image next to its referent, questions not only the distance of the mimetic exercise but also recalls the temporal resistance of painting in the face of the expiration of its object.

Kevin Mancera (Bogotá, 1982)
Lives and works in Amsterdam

Kevin Mancera's work is born in different areas of an emotional landscape, which materializes in representations full of interpretive nuances, capable of communicating, from a sarcastic perspective, feelings associated with sadness and frustration. Mancera's drawings are based on intimate exercises, close to the illustration of psychological situations, typical of everyday circumstances, uprooting, conflicts and failure. The motivations for his work are a reflection of his own experiences, and are articulated from visual narratives that exalt the small tragedies of everyday life. His drawings appear charged with sensitivity and humor, which allow different readings of the works.

Luis Hernandez Mellizo (Bogota, 1978)
Lives and works in Buenos Aires

The work of Luis Hernández Mellizo addresses different concerns related to the activity of the painter – seen from a material, historical and conceptual perspective – and the duty and place of the artist in society. His work is developed from a critical look at the local context – often taken into consideration with others –, the redefinition of political discourses and the relationship between city, art and society. In this series of works, the artist transforms common tools and objects such as books, dusters or trowels by inserting paintbrushes or spatulas into them. Hernández deconstructs the original meaning of the objects to establish a correspondence between the artist, the worker and the value of painting as an act that questions the scope of art in society.

Jose Olano (Cali, 1985)
Lives and works in Cartagena

The three central concepts in José Olano's work are balance, stability and optical tension. Throughout his career, the artist has made photographs and installations that explore fragility and accident, based on the recontextualization and arrangement of everyday objects such as furniture, mattresses, branches or fruit. In these recent works, Olano conducts research into the waste of Puerto Colombia, through which he creates a correspondence between the earthly and the cosmic. The artist redefines objects based on the relationship between various opposites such as life and the inert or the tangible and the ethereal.
