Time Trial
Most sporting competitions in the West are mediated by the relationship between time and victory, a relationship that is made explicit in several cycling categories. On the track, the speed test estimates the relationship between distance and time in a sprint with a previous push. In the points test, comparisons are established between sprints carried out at various times over a distance of several kilometres; on the road, it is the accumulation of time over stages of the route that defines the leadership of the race according to each competition category.
Whether on the track or on the road, the time trial – individual or team – represents a type of race where the other competitors disappear and the classification is estimated by the time taken to cover the same distance.
