Juan Rodríguez Varón

The main interest of Juan Rodríguez Varón (Bogotá, 1988) as an artist has been the formal exploration of the pictorial medium in its procedural dimension. Fluctuating between the abstract and the figurative, his paintings seek to point out the relationships established between different elements, particularly spaces, objects, light and atmospheres. It is in these tensions of forces that the artist configures his paintings as new presences. Rodríguez Varón has a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the Universidad de Los Andes and completed a master's degree in painting at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp. He lives and works in Bogotá.
