The work of José Olano (Cali, 1985) is based on his interest in balance and its relationship with fragility and chance. By creating balanced structures, the artist exposes the unstable nature of objects and recognizes the accident, the event that opens up the possibilities of his work, and to that extent, raises questions about the intersections between art and life. His work has been shown at the Bienal Internacional de Arte de
Cartagena de Indias (2014), the 43 Salón (Inter) Nacional de Artistas in Medellín
(2013), the 14 Salón Regional de Artistas Atarraya in Santa Marta (2012), as well as
in solo shows in New York, Madrid, Lima, Panama City and Bogotá. He lives and works
in Cartagena de Indias
